Continued success in ABRSM Music Theory and Instrumental Exams for Saltus students

The Saltus Creative and Performing Arts department are thrilled to share that we have now received all of our 2024 ABSRM results for our remaining students, and they are truly outstanding. Students have successfully completed qualifications in both Performance and Theory.
The Saltus Creative and Performing Arts department are thrilled to share that we have now received all of our 2024 ABSRM results for our remaining students, and they are truly outstanding. Students have successfully completed qualifications in both Performance and Theory.

Under the accomplished tutelage of Mr Chris Cooper our Piano teacher, students have successfully achieved completion of Grades 1 to 7 in Performance. The highlight of this achievement is our Grade 7 student, James Ganal. To achieve at the ABSRM Grade 7 level, students are expected to devote a substantial amount of time to lessons and rehearsal. This happens in their own time. Each ABSRM grade comes with a time expectation and as the Grade level increases, the time commitment grows. For ABSRM Grade 1 students, this involves 12 Guided Learning Hours with the expectation of 60 hours of Total Qualification Time. For ABSRM Grade 7 students, this increases to 48 Guided Learning Hours and 270 hours of Total Qualification time. As you can see, this is a substantial accomplishment on top of a full-time student load!

Our multi-talented Music teacher, Ms Karen Carlington, who manages our Strings and Orchestra program brings a wealth of experience as an outstanding theoretician and has also successfully guided students towards the completion of ABSRM Grades 1 to 5 in Theory. Grade 5 Theory requires an additional 12 Guided Learning Hours with a Total Qualification Time of 90 hours. In many cases, as you can see from our list of achievements below, our students are completing both Performance AND Theory components concurrently.

It is particularly noteworthy that seven out of ten theory students achieved a Distinction grade!
